Training and development

Teddies Nurseries encourages its staff to participate actively in the progression of quality childcare through constantly reviewing our operating standards. Staff attend monthly meetings, staff reviews and unit planning meetings. All staff are expected to contribute and all views are considered and debated.

Teddies has grown such that it can also provide a whole spectrum of training opportunities for its staff whatever their level of qualification. We have an internal training programme covering areas such as child protection, parental liaison, health and safety, HIV awareness, childhood diseases and nursery management. We constantly review our training calendar to ensure our training is up to date and we have recently achieved our Investors in People accreditation which further demonstrates our ongoing commitment to learning and development.

In addition to providing training in house, Teddies fully supports any further education you might require to progress your career. We have a further education policy in place and you are able to discuss you educational needs with your manager and agree which qualifications would be recommended and supported by Teddies at any time.

Teddies helps its staff to fulfil their personal goals. We help staff to increase their knowledge, and assist them with their career progression and to diversify into areas of personal strengths. The career prospects we promise are a reality. All our vacancies are advertised internally and, where possible, we promote from within. In the last year a majority of our management vacancies, from Head of unit to Nursery manager, have been filled internally. This year will also see the launch of the Management Traineeship Programmes to further support internal career progression.
