Assistant nursery manager

Nursery-based

Role purpose

To work alongside the Nursery manager to provide a child-centred environment where the children are cared for in a safe, loving and stimulating way. Deliver childcare in a way that meets the parents' needs and works in partnership with them. To assist in the management of the nursery to achieve the best level of care for the child in a commercial environment. To play a key role in promoting and ensuring 'best practice' is followed in line with Teddies Operating procedures and standards. To be 'acting' Nursery manager in the manager's absence.

Accountabilities

  • Working with the manager to ensure that Teddies Nurseries policies and procedures are implemented to guarantee the effective operation of the nursery.
  • Take on the responsibilities of the Nursery manager should they be absent on annual leave, training or with sickness.
  • To support the management with managing the staff team and supervise and assist staff in key areas such as planning and preparation of activities, meeting the children's needs at all times.
  • Liaise with the parents and staff to ensure that the child's progress along with all initiates and developments within the nursery are communicated effectively.

Qualifications, training and experience required:

Desirable

NNEB, CACHE level 3, NVQ level 3 or equivalent

Yes

A minimum of 2 years' supervisory experience

An ability to work on own initiative and use judgement skills

Excellent organisational skills with the ability to organise the staff team in the manager's absence

Good time management skills

Knowledge of health and safety legislation

Prepared to undertake professional development, as appropriate.
