Teddies and your child

The right kind of care for your child

Of course, every child has different needs - depending on their age, abilities, individual personality and preferences. Sometimes children, especially the very young, need lots of care and attention. At other times they need plenty of activities to keep them stimulated and interested. Whatever your child's needs, we will take care to ensure they are happy and contented - and to provide the right level of support and encouragement to help develop their confidence and social skills.

Helping to develop your child's full potential

As well as making sure your child feels happy and relaxed, we want to help them develop too. Children develop in the first five years of life faster than at any other time. We make every effort to give them the right support with our own SMILE active learning programme, offering a 'Stimulating Motivating Imaginative Learning Environment' which fully meets the foundation stage of the national curriculum. Through a whole range of activities and games to stimulate your child's development, our priority is to make learning fun - and to encourage your child to develop at their own pace.

At Teddies, each nursery is carefully structured to provide areas where the care is appropriate to the developmental stage and priorities of your child, rather than simple age considerations. During their time at nursery children progress through each of the areas:

Teddies Baby Care - baby units at every nursery provide the dedicated care and support needed to provide babies with the comforting and reassuring home routines that allow them to enjoy this critical phase in their development.

Teddies Little Learners - this area is intended to provide the right level of care and attention to support the children's rapidly developing skills, physical abilities and personalities, by encouraging greater development through discovery and play.

Teddies Learning Centre - within this area the SMILE learning programme provides the framework for children to develop in a fun and imaginative environment and improve their confidence and independence in preparation for school.

Here are just some of the ways we help to develop your child's potential:

  • we provide an exciting environment for children of all ages, even the very young - to keep them stimulated, interested and contented
  • we make learning fun with a wide variety of activities including music, arts and crafts, cookery and themed play
  • we arrange educational trips to nearby activities and places of interest, always with your permission
  • we make sure that, weather permitting, each child gets fresh air every day by playing outdoors
  • we feed your child's imagination and help them to think independently
  • we encourage your child to play and interact with others to help them build relationships and develop self-esteem and social skills when your child reaches three years old, we provide a more structured learning programme to help them meet Early Learning Goals and prepare for school
  • we offer your child a gentle introduction to a whole range of subjects such as reading, writing, maths, science, the world around us and even French; we also have links with local schools to help ease the transition from nursery to school.
